The Jim Holsted Athlete of the Week for April 12th is Eli Jones

Eli is a Junior on the Bomber Track & Field team. He shattered the 53 year old school record in the shot put at the Cyclone Relays by throwing 54’11.5” in his final attempt. He broke the old record, set by Philip Arnold in 1971, by over a foot.

Eli started the year by winning the 5A state title in the Shot Put at the Indoor Track & Field State Championship held in Fayetteville. He has now thrown state qualifying marks in both shot put and discus this season and is ranked first in the state in both events. He is also on the Football team, German Club, NHS and attends Riverside Church of Christ while holding a 4.025 GPA. His parents are Jay and Kim Jones.
